This is a wooden lamp that I designed to look like a Japanese rice paper lamp. Its made of 100% wood (except the electronic components of course), and it is hand crafted! This piece of woodworking was a gift for my wife on Christmas, and she loved it!
To make this lamp, I started by milling some wooden panels thin enough to see light through them, I did this with a drum sander. Then I made some thicker panels of wood that I cut a pattern out of on the scroll saw, which was the hardest part. From there I glued them together, and then made a frame. I made sides with the frame and the panels, then glued them together. After that, I made the x frame for the lamp components. once that was cut, I glued them to the body of the lamp with the electronics installed, and it was done! well, it was done other than the finish, which was a spray lacquer.
